Thus, the management and conservation of the environment based on the Islamic approach is gaining attention both nationally and internationally. Apart from highlighting the Islamic approach, the empowerment of religious institutions such as mosques has also received attention from various parties. As an example, creating an eco-mosque and expanding its role as an environmental conservation agent in an effort to spread and promote the message of environmental awareness to the community. Although the implementation of eco-mosques in Malaysia is still not widespread, efforts to transform the existing mosques into eco-mosques are already in place. Therefore, this article presents an overview of the concept of eco-mosque and outlines in general the potential and challenges of eco-mosque implementation in Malaysia. It was found that one of the main challenges in the implementation of eco-mosques is the large cost of implications as well as the willingness of community members in its successful implementation.</p> ER -
